[Resources] Lightning Simulation in Blender 🌩️⚡

Published over 2 years ago • 1 min read

Hey Reader,

Zach here, with another round of useful and inspiring CG and Blender related resources.

New Trailer: Master 3D Sculpting in Blender

In the past weeks, I had a blast working on a new trailer for my recently updated Master 3D Sculpting in Blender course, which you can watch above.

It was the first time I used CyclesX (a new faster version of Cycles coming to Blender 3.0) for a full project, and I was blown away on how fast it rendered the images for the animation.

In the trailer, you can also see a cool transition effect, where the clay shaded creature turns into the colored version. If you are interested in how I made this, check out the freshly published video below.

Let me know if there is anything else from the trailer that you would like to know how I did it, and I might create another tutorial (just reply to this mail).

Lightning Tutorial in Blender

Here is a very cool lightning tutorial by Bad Normals, created using Geometry Nodes. The intro shot of the video is also pretty stunning!

Blender Sci-fi Animation

Here is a short yet very impressive Blender sci-fi animation, created by Neil Taylor. Love how huge everything feels in the shot, and the mood and atmosphere is on point.

He also has more sci-fi animations on his YouTube channel, so definitely check them out.

Interview with the winner of the Treehouse Challenge

Last but not least, here is our latest challenge winner interview with Florian Linke, who won the 1st place in the Treehouse challenge.

He shows, that even as someone relatively new to CG, can create stunning artworks and win a challenge like this.

That's it for this week, now enjoy your weekend and stay creative!

Hey Reader, Zach here, Have you ever struggled with getting your 3D character’s walking animation to look right? I know how hard it is without proper guidance. It’s easy to get lost in all those tiny details that matter and not be able to see what’s making it all go wrong. I’ve got something for you that can help you understand the walk cycle animation inside out. My friend Brian Kouhi (a professional animator and founder of ToAnimate) shared a full 1-hour-long lesson on making a walk cycle...

Hey Reader, Zach here, If you are struggling to find the motivation to learn 3D, or if you have abandoned projects and courses half way, you are most definitely not alone. In fact, I believe it is the most common struggle all artists go through. This also happened to Tetiana Markov, one of our passionate CG Boost students and challenge participants. We were very excited to interview her, to share her story of how she overcame all kinds of self-doubt and got her work featured on Blender Nation...
