Hey Reader,
Zach here with another round of useful and inspiring CG and Blender related resources.
That was somewhat unexpected. On Wednesday, the new stable version of Blender 3.1 was released. In the video above, you get a brief overview on what is new and improved.
This time it feels that there was no "big new feature" released, but rather many small additions and improvements. I especially like the GPU accelerated Subsurf Modifier.
Check out all the new stuff + download here.
World Creator - Shortfilm "I AM"
World Creator is a commercial tool to generate realistic terrain and landscapes. Their latest promotional short film "I AM" is super impressive, as watching some nature documentary, but everything you see is actually CG.
BTW. if you want to learn how to create landscapes with only free tools, check out our Master 3D Environments in Blender course.
Dynamic Fence using Geometry Nodes (Blender Tutorial)
Martin Klekner just published our first Geometry Nodes tutorial. There he shows how to connect fence assets, make them adapt to the underlying terrain and dynamically change the size of the nearby assets. Enjoy!
Blender Studio just released another professional character rig for Blender, called "Snow". The video above also shows him in action, and here you can get more behind the scenes info.
That's it for this week, now enjoy your weekend and stay creative!
~Zach

I’ve got something for you that can help you understand the walk cycle animation inside out. My friend Brian Kouhi (a professional animator and founder of ToAnimate) shared a full 1-hour-long lesson on making a walk cycle...
Hey Reader, Zach here, If you are struggling to find the motivation to learn 3D, or if you have abandoned projects and courses half way, you are most definitely not alone. In fact, I believe it is the most common struggle all artists go through. This also happened to Tetiana Markov, one of our passionate CG Boost students and challenge participants. We were very excited to interview her, to share her story of how she overcame all kinds of self-doubt and got her work featured on Blender Nation...
Hey Reader, Zach here, For the past 6 years, our tutor Martin Klekner has been hard at work, exploring all the possible ways to create epic 3D environments in Blender. As a personal challenge, he tried it without the use of any paid add-ons, the results of all his research he accumulated in his Master 3D Environments in Blender course. 3D scenes you learn to create in the environment course. As Martin’s challenge and his course prove - making awesome, grand scale landscapes in Blender is...
