🎨 [Free Chapter] Layered Grungy Materials in Blender

Published about 2 months ago • 1 min read

Hey Reader,

Zach here,

Today, I'm excited to share that we are making two workflows from our new Urban Environments course available for free.

In this course, our new teacher, Cov Phillips, teaches powerful Blender workflows to create a full city street environment from scratch, focused on intermediate 3D artists.

Click here to check out the course

Workflow #1 - Creating a Reference Guide

First, we have a short chapter on building a reference guide for your city scene.

This chapter is vital because it helps you plan the design of your environment first, and then you can simply focus on building the scene, hassle-free.

The great thing, this workflow applies to any 3D project, not just city environments, so a very vital skill to learn as a 3D artist.

Workflow #2 - Layered Grungy Material

For the 2nd free workflow, you can watch the first 6 lessons (~50 mins of content) of a comprehensive texturing chapter.

Here you'll learn a powerful texturing workflow for making realistic materials in Blender.

You’ll learn how to:

  • Create a base plaster material with realistic textures
  • Adding color variation to the material
  • Adding weathering to the material
  • Adding layered damage to the material

The great news is, even though this workflow is shown later in the course, you can still follow a long by downloading all the project files attached to the lessons, and put into practice Cov's powerful texturing workflow.

Early Bird Bonus

If you are excited to fully enroll into the course, you can still get the early bird bonus robots with 4 looping animations to populate your scenes and add even more life to it.

Just make sure to enroll till March 10th, 2024, where the early bird phase ends.

Count down to 2024-03-10T23:00:00.000Z

See you inside!

~Zach

Hey Reader, Zach here, Have you ever struggled with getting your 3D character’s walking animation to look right? I know how hard it is without proper guidance. It’s easy to get lost in all those tiny details that matter and not be able to see what’s making it all go wrong. I’ve got something for you that can help you understand the walk cycle animation inside out. My friend Brian Kouhi (a professional animator and founder of ToAnimate) shared a full 1-hour-long lesson on making a walk cycle...

Hey Reader, Zach here, If you are struggling to find the motivation to learn 3D, or if you have abandoned projects and courses half way, you are most definitely not alone. In fact, I believe it is the most common struggle all artists go through. This also happened to Tetiana Markov, one of our passionate CG Boost students and challenge participants. We were very excited to interview her, to share her story of how she overcame all kinds of self-doubt and got her work featured on Blender Nation...
