Hey Reader,

Zach here, with another round of useful and inspiring CG and Blender related resources.

โ€‹10 Tips for creating Epic Landscapes in Blenderโ€‹

In our new video, Martin Klekner shares 10 tips he learned from his extensive time focusing on environment creation in Blender. He gives general tips but also shows concrete techniques, providing useful pointers for your own large-scale scene production.

โ€‹The Last Spitfire prologue (Short film)โ€‹

This is the prologue sequence for the short movie called "The last Spitfire", created by Renato Roldan, Santi Lozano and Tolo Prats. Everything was created in Blender with Grease Pencil and the Malt Beer render engine.

It has an awesome art style. Looking forward to seeing the full short.

โ€‹Sci-fi Helmet in Blender - Metaballs + Sculptingโ€‹

Although I usually don't share uncommented time-lapses, I found the workflow shown in this one quite interesting.

Emiliano Colantoni uses a combination of Metaballs and sculpting techniques, to get pretty clean hard-surface shapes, which is nearly impossible in Blender, when you only use the sculpting tools.

โ€‹Tiny Star Wars Podrace (iPhone + Blender)โ€‹

I quite enjoyed this short film shot on an iPhone, where tiny podracers are flying through a house.

The interesting part is that the shots that were impossible to do in real live, were done in Blender, after the house was 3D scanned using the iPhone and the Polycam app.

Watch out for the cat! ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿˆ

That's it for this week, now enjoy your weekend and stay creative!

Hey Reader, Zach here, Have you ever struggled with getting your 3D characterโ€™s walking animation to look right? I know how hard it is without proper guidance. Itโ€™s easy to get lost in all those tiny details that matter and not be able to see whatโ€™s making it all go wrong. Iโ€™ve got something for you that can help you understand the walk cycle animation inside out. My friend Brian Kouhi (a professional animator and founder of ToAnimate) shared a full 1-hour-long lesson on making a walk cycle...

Hey Reader, Zach here, If you are struggling to find the motivation to learn 3D, or if you have abandoned projects and courses half way, you are most definitely not alone. In fact, I believe it is the most common struggle all artists go through. This also happened to Tetiana Markov, one of our passionate CG Boost students and challenge participants. We were very excited to interview her, to share her story of how she overcame all kinds of self-doubt and got her work featured on Blender Nation...

Hey Reader, Zach here, For the past 6 years, our tutor Martin Klekner has been hard at work, exploring all the possible ways to create epic 3D environments in Blender. As a personal challenge, he tried it without the use of any paid add-ons, the results of all his research he accumulated in his Master 3D Environments in Blender course. 3D scenes you learn to create in the environment course. As Martinโ€™s challenge and his course prove - making awesome, grand scale landscapes in Blender is...
