[Resources] New Blender Open Movie 🎬

Published over 1 year ago • 1 min read

Hey Reader,

Zach here, with another round of useful and inspiring CG and Blender related resources.

"Charge" New Blender Open Movie

I really enjoyed the new open movie, created by the Blender Studio. It is entirely done in Blender, and rendered in Eevee. This means it was rendered nearly in realtime, and for that, it looks fantastic.

This feels like one episode of the awesome Netflix "Love, Death and Robots" show. Great production quality and nice little story.

If you want to learn more, you can check out the making of video, and you can even get access to all production files, if you subscribe to the Blender Studio.

Stylized Microscope in Blender

In our new Blender tutorial, Kevin Ramirez shows how to create a stylized microscope in Blender. You will learn the entire workflow, from modeling, over shading, to adding details with Grease Pencil.

I especially love the part of adding the shader and Grease Pencil outlines.

Btw. Kevin's new Grease Pencil course is still 20% off, till January 2nd, 2023.

Realistic Laboratory Glass in Blender

We have another new science lab themed tutorial for you (based on our last challenge).

Here, Masha Bazueva shows how to model and texture a realistic laboratory glass in Blender and gives a quick breakdown of how the science lab scene was created.

Although Masha is a long-time CG Boost team member, this is her first tutorial on our channel.

Live 3D Art Critique - Science Lab Challenge

Last Wednesday, we had our last livestream for 2022, where we critiqued submissions of the "Science Lab" 3D Art Challenge. Together with Jesse from Kaizen Tutorials, we had a good time reviewing some of your works.

Check out the chapter marks on YouTube, to jump to the section of the video you are interested in.

"Blender Hotkey Sheet" PDF updated to Blender 3.4

We updated our Blender Hotkey Sheet PDF to reflect the changes in the new stable version of Blender 3.4.

It includes a colored version and a grayscale version, optimized for printing.

You can now download it here, without the need to sign up or login. Enjoy!

That was the last resource email for 2022. Merry Christmas and a happy new year!

~Zach

P.S. If you haven't noticed, our Substance Painter Launch Pad course is now permanently 50% off.

Hey Reader, Zach here, Have you ever struggled with getting your 3D character’s walking animation to look right? I know how hard it is without proper guidance. It’s easy to get lost in all those tiny details that matter and not be able to see what’s making it all go wrong. I’ve got something for you that can help you understand the walk cycle animation inside out. My friend Brian Kouhi (a professional animator and founder of ToAnimate) shared a full 1-hour-long lesson on making a walk cycle...

Hey Reader, Zach here, If you are struggling to find the motivation to learn 3D, or if you have abandoned projects and courses half way, you are most definitely not alone. In fact, I believe it is the most common struggle all artists go through. This also happened to Tetiana Markov, one of our passionate CG Boost students and challenge participants. We were very excited to interview her, to share her story of how she overcame all kinds of self-doubt and got her work featured on Blender Nation...

Hey Reader, Zach here, For the past 6 years, our tutor Martin Klekner has been hard at work, exploring all the possible ways to create epic 3D environments in Blender. As a personal challenge, he tried it without the use of any paid add-ons, the results of all his research he accumulated in his Master 3D Environments in Blender course. 3D scenes you learn to create in the environment course. As Martin’s challenge and his course prove - making awesome, grand scale landscapes in Blender is...
